Owners of the 10th Generation Honda Accord reveal their opinions on the car
The 10th generation Honda Accord is a head turner on the road, thanks to its long and sleek lines and the power of its VTEC turbocharged engine. The Accord owners we spoke to raved about the acceleration that the vehicle brings with every step of the gas pedal. The fact that it is new and unique leads to questions and admiring glances everywhere.

Why did you choose the Accord?
Lee Choon Hoe (LCH):
I like the sporty design of it. The boot is very spacious and the interior, even at the back, is very comfortable.
Ronald Yeo (RY):
I was looking into cars in the D segment and I think among all the other cars, the Accord’s design and aesthetics appealed to me the most. I’m not a car enthusiast, but what is important to me are the features and design, the interior and exterior of the car. Every feature is there for the right purpose, with the right balance of extravagance and sportiness.
Khairul Nizam (KN):
Because I’ve been a fan of the Accord, and the car is big and spacious.
Kamarul Hardi (KH):
I picked it because of the Honda brand. When I wanted to buy a new car, I did a comparison with other brands, and the Accord was still the best value for money.
Vijayaraj Nadaraja (VN):
I wanted to get a new car and I usually prefer a sedan, so I thought the best sedan I can get is either the Accord or another D-segment sedan, but the Accord had a better engine. I chose it for performance. I like the style, the design of the car. It’s one of the major reasons why I bought the car.
Devaraj Vijaykumer (DV):
We wanted to have something executive in feel that was affordable. I’m a big fan of Honda and we saw that the 10th generation was coming out soon, so it seemed like a sure choice.
What was the experience of driving the Accord the first time for you?
LCH:
The seats and interior feel luxurious and it is very spacious.
RY:
The biggest impression I got when I first drove the car was its size. It feels more like a continental car. It was comfortable and smooth. I didn’t push it to the limits, but it has power.
KN:
It was great. When you drive the car, you can feel the difference compared to other cars. The engine is smooth, and it feels safe because, there are lots of airbags.
KH:
Excited! I think I was the first to get the model early, three months ago, and I didn’t see others like it on the road.
VN:
It was noticeably comfortable, and it provided the power when needed. For a normal drive, it’s very pleasant and I find it very stable, and exciting to drive it.
DV:
It was a wonderful experience. When I first looked at the car, I never expected it to be this luxurious. It really has that executive car feel. When I enter the car, it feels big and comfortable. When I brought my parents for a ride, they didn’t feel the speed at all, and I didn’t have to compromise my speed for their comfort. I really love the car very much.
What do you use your car for?
LCH:
Because of CMCO previously, we couldn’t drive it everywhere but I use it mostly for work.
RY:
It’s my only car now so I use it for work and I commute everywhere with it.
KN:
I use the car for work and my family trips, like when we go travelling back to my kampung.
KH:
I use the car daily for work. Every day I go from Semenyih to KL Sentral and back, so I think my mileage is now 20,000.
VN:
It’s normally for travelling to work, but due to previous CMCO restrictions, I couldn’t even do it at that time. I would also like to use it to travel long distances in the near future.
How do you feel driving the Accord now?
LCH:
It feels good and I enjoy driving it around.
RY:
Up to today, I have encountered no problems. It’s still smooth to drive everywhere.
KN:
It’s the new Accord, so I feel excited to drive it. The engine is turbo, so it feels good.
KH:
I feel very satisfied.
VN:
It still feels the same, still like new, especially since previously, I didn’t have the chance to drive it much when MCO was enforced.
DV:
Every time I get into the car, it still feels like new and has the new car smell. I haven’t gotten used to it, even now every time I enter it, it still feels like the first time. With all the features on the dashboard, I find something new when I drive.
What was a memorable experience when you were driving your Accord?
LCH:
There was one time I was driving, and I stopped at a traffic light. Another Accord had stopped at the same traffic light and the driver looked at me. I looked back at him and we were exchanging looks, like a, “Good choice, I see what you have there.” My wife, who was driving behind me at the time because we were going to the same location to drop one car off, saw the exchange and laughed about it.
RY:
When I showed my mum the Remote Engine Start feature, the look of shock on her face was priceless, and ever since she came to know about that feature, she’d always ask me about using the Remote Engine Start feature every time when I visit her on the weekends.
KN:
With this new Accord, people are curious whenever I park my car because it’s new. I get a lot of questions and people wanting to see the car close up and its interior. It’s quite a funny experience for me.
VN:
In the middle of CMCO when we could go out, we drove as a family to Ipoh and the kids really liked the drive. It made the journey fun and comfortable.
DV:
When I first got in the car, it felt like getting into a plane, like the plane cockpit, there were just so many buttons and it felt so electronic. It took me a minute to come back to the reality that it was a car; it felt like outside the car and inside the car were different worlds.
What does your family or the people in your life think about the car?
LCH:
My wife loves it. I think she drives it more than I do. There’s so much more room.
RY:
My family enjoys the size of it as there’s good legroom at the back. It’s comfortable. I used to drive a C-segment car, and jumping from that to this car is definitely an upgrade in terms of size and comfort.
KN:
They love travelling in the car. Because of its space and comfort, when we take longer trips, they don’t feel tired after a long drive.
KH:
My office mates are impressed because I was one of the first customers to own the first production of the new Accord. They praise the 10th Generation Accord because it’s not like other models before. One glance at the car and you can see the design is sporty and looks almost like a continental car.
VN:
My wife likes it. She feels relaxed in it and doesn’t feel fatigued riding in it. My friends have always liked the Honda Accord, it has an excellent design and some of my friends feel like owning a Honda Accord gives you a certain prestige.
DV:
My parents, wife and kids all like it. It’s the space of the car that really impressed me, because I can have my entire family in the car and it never feels cramped. When we first got the car, we did a brief trip around the neighbourhood and it felt spacious. My kids get into it so quickly, sometimes they just sit quietly and that’s a gift to a parent.
What is the best feature of the car in your opinion?
LCH:
Definitely the amount of space in the car itself and how much storage in the boot it has.
RY:
Based on the previous Accord, this one seems to be a bit larger. Apart from the comfort, I would also mention the Honda SENSING. It provides a lot of much needed assistance on the highway because I’m a lazy driver and these new features and improved technology are very helpful.
KN:
It’s the turbo engine for me. It’s fast and I like that. I’m the sort of driver who likes to drive fast (laughs).
KH:
I like the Honda SENSING safety features, and the camera is quite good as well when I compare it to other cars.
VN:
Personally, I really like the Remote Start Assist, especially since at the moment my car hardly moves. When I realise that I haven’t started the car in a while, I can just press a button and it will do it for me.
DV:
I found that the control of the car is exceptional. You don’t feel like you’re driving a big car, even though it is a pretty big car. The handling and the power steering is on point, the car doesn’t feel bulky. I give extra points to that.
What is the best part about owning/driving your Accord?
LCH:
It’s a unique car and still new. I get looks when I drive it because it looks so sporty.
RY:
Comfort is a plus. I think it’s eye catching so it’s bound to turn heads.
KN:
The design attracts me. The interior and exterior are nice, the boot is spacious, so it’s the best.
KH:
The best part is the acceleration.
VN:
Comfort definitely, but I also really appreciate the executive feel of the car.
DV:
I think I’m the very first user of this Accord in Malaysia, I’m sure of that, and that gives me credit. The best part of owning it is really owning it.
Where do you want to go next with your Accord?
LCH:
I would like to go to Genting Highlands with my family.
RY:
My wife and I have been planning to go to Penang for some time. We will probably take a drive once the situation with COVID-19 becomes safer in Malaysia.
KN:
I travel back to my hometown in Kuantan, Pahang, often before the MCO, so, that is where I want to go. If it’s further than that across state borders, probably to Kuala Perlis for food. I live in Ipoh, by the way.
VN:
I would either go North to Penang or South to Johor.
DV:
I think I will just go North to South and go from Penang to Johor Bahru, all around Malaysia, because I think that this car will make the journey feel good. Then, I think I will visit all my relatives and have a parade with the car. The best part of the ride is not the destination but the journey, so I’m really looking forward to it.
What would you say to someone who is interested in buying the Accord?
LCH:
That it is an all-rounder and good value for money in terms of power, space, technology and design.
RY:
Depending on their budget, I would recommend the Accord if they have the range to spend.
KN:
The car is long-lasting, and it’s stable when driving because of its wide design. There are no issues when turning corners. Also, there’s no spoiling of the car, it’s just wear and tear of tyres. I’ve never had issues with other parts of the car. I used to own another Accord for seven years and service was very affordable, it’s pretty low maintenance.
The salesperson who attends to me is also very good and gives me great service. He really looks after me ever since I purchased my first car from him in 2012. He handles it all for me: my car servicing, road tax renewal. I’ve recommended a lot of my friends who have wanted to purchase Hondas to him.
KH:
Definitely about the Honda SENSING, the fact that it’s really value for money and the car has good acceleration.
VN:
It’s a brilliant car. Again, it’s very comfortable. I’m 40 years old and my group of friends prize comfort at our age. It also handles very well. If I could summarize it in 3 words, I would say comfort, stability and handling.
DV:
I’d say don’t think twice, because it’s definitely value for money. If you let someone take a test drive in it, they will definitely love it. The test drive I had in this Accord was totally different.
