The Governor of Melaka Officially Visits Honda Malaysia's Pegoh Plant

Alor Gajah, Melaka, 4 June 2007 – Honda Malaysia is honoured to welcome His Excellency, Governor of Melaka, T.Y.T Tun Datuk Seri Utama Mohd Khalil Bin Yaakob on his official visit to Honda Malaysia's Pegoh Plant on June 1. The governor's purpose of this visit is mainly to find out more about Honda Malaysia, its technologies, operations, products, associates and activities. It is also an opportunity to explore on improving the infrastructure surroundings of the plant such as the roads, landscapes and signage.

The Honda Malaysia's Pegoh Plant is seen as an industrial icon and pride in the state of Melaka.
Set-up in January 2003, the state-of-the-art plant boasts three zones – the main plant which houses the Complete Knocked Down Unit (CKD) automobile assembly plant and its auxiliary buildings; a Constant Velocity Joint (CVJ) factory; and a Complete-Built Up (CBU) pre-delivery operation centre. The plant also has its own test track built to Honda's international standards. The facility is equipped with Honda's flexible manufacturing system to maximize efficiency. Focusing on quality, cost-competitiveness, self-reliability and conduciveness, the plant was constructed to realise Honda's long term vision, which is to become a major player in the ASEAN region.

Power Asia Pacific. The plant's technologies together with the government's custom and immigration support on speeding up process priority for on time delivery, Honda Malaysia is optimistic in achieving No. 1 in Customer Satisfaction.

In line with Honda Pegoh Plant's aspiration towards becoming an absolute environmental-friendly factory and to fulfil its responsibility in the conservation of global environment, special emphasis is given to the plant ventilation, distribution of heat and also working condition. It is part of Honda's objective in fulfilling dreams and aspirations whereby it continuously creates original technology that opens up new possibilities. Honda believes in the Power of Dreams. It dreams to provide the future with better technology along with better individuals, society and environment. With these dreams, Honda has placed strong commitments to corporate social responsibility programs such as Saving the Sumatran Rhinos and helping young individuals to achieve their dreams through Honda Dreams Fund.

His Excellency, Governor of Melaka, T.Y.T Tun Datuk Seri Utama Mohd Khalil Bin Yaakob was accompanied by Y.B. Datuk Wira Hj. Ahmad Bin Hamzah, Chairman of State Industrial, Commerce, Entrepreneur & Development Committee; Datuk Seri Hj. Mohd Ali bin Mohd Rustam, Chief Minister of Melaka and other state officials. The Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Honda Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. ( HMSB ), Mr Atsushi Fujimoto inaugurated the visit with an official speech, followed by a corporate profile presentation by the Chief Operating Officer of HMSB, Mr Kamaruddin Abdul Kadir and then tour of the factory led by Yang Berbahagia Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Omar, Chairman of Honda Malaysia Sdn.Bhd.

T.Y.T. Tun Datuk Seri Utama Mohd Khalil Bin Yaakob is formerly the Chief Minister of Pahang (Aug 1986 ~ Aug 1997), Minister of Information (1999~2004) and was elected the Governor of Melaka on 27th May, 2004. The roles and functions of the Yang DiPertua Negeri comprise the following : Head of State, Legislative Function, Executive Function, Power of Pardon, and Fountain of Honours and Dignities.
